In January 2017 my friend and I headed to Nairobi, Kenya. As a past Pack for a Purpose contributor, I contacted Rebecca from PfaP about Joy House Education Centre. She put me in contact with Isaac. We arranged for him to pick us up on our first full day in Nairobi, and take us to Joy House. We were both able to take an extra piece of luggage filled with school supplies, books, soccer balls, and 5 laptops generously donated by our friends.
Isaac picked us up as arranged and took us into the heart of the slums. We visited all the classes and were greeted with songs and smiles. They were particularly excited to look at our cameras after we took their pictures. It was wonderful to meet such wonderful children.
This was the 3rd time I have travelled with donations but the 1st time I was able to deliver the school supplies in person. An enlightening experience.
