Our family from Hong Kong and Malaysia went on a wonderful eight-day safari in northern Tanzania this month. As none of the lodges in our itinerary were signed up with Pack for a Purpose, I emailed PfaP to inquire how I could participate. Rebecca Rothney, the founder, suggested (as we were spending the first night in Arusha) that I could bring supplies for the children at the Plaster House in Arusha. She put me in touch with Eliya Tumaini of Nature Bound Africa, who supports that project. Eliya kindly agreed to pick up and deliver the supplies from the Arusha hotel we stayed at, as our schedule left no time for a visit with the children. My sister Lyn and I packed clothes, books, games, school supplies, and all of the donated soft toys her 10-year-old son Ren won as class prizes. In Arusha, we left our suitcase of supplies with the hotel reception to await collection and Eliya delivered it to the Plaster House soon after. He also sent us photos of the children with the donations, and it was heartwarming to see the little ones with the soft toys. Thanks, Eliya and Rebecca! Will definitely Pack for a Purpose again!
