As I adjust to my junior year at NC State University, I’m grateful for the opportunity I have as an intern with Pack for a Purpose. Studying both public relations and Spanish with minors in nonprofit studies and journalism, this is a best of all worlds position for me. I’m improving my communication and writing skills while learning about behind-the-scenes aspects of nonprofit management.
While I only recently began my work at PfaP, I did have the amazing experience of study abroad in Cuba this past summer. It was unforgettable and incredibly eye-opening. While I had interest before, my time in Cuba sparked a desire to affect change on an international level. Pack for a Purpose allows me to do just that.
In my free time, I play basketball and flag football with my friends. I also love to make pottery, a hobby I’ve practiced for around 5 years. In conjunction with my nonprofit desire, I also love to volunteer. I’m the Vice President of VOLAR, a Spanish-based service program that coordinates volunteering events in the Raleigh community. I hope to study abroad, or at least travel to, another Spanish-speaking country soon – and I’ll be sure to Pack for a Purpose when I do!
