PfaP Travelers Sail to St. Lucia with Needed Supplies in Tow

The Moorings in St. Lucia, which supports the Caribaid Foundation, was added to the PfaP website in late April 2016. The Caribaid Foundation is a non-profit focused on fostering happiness and prosperity in young, single mothers by providing a place for their children to stay during the day.

Sometimes when an accommodation or tour company is added to the Pack for a Purpose website, it takes some time before PfaP travelers become aware of the opportunity to choose to Pack for a Purpose for this new participant’s project. Hurricanes and earthquakes can also affect the arrival of supplies.

While the hurricanes of 2017 may have impacted donations, Earl Augustin, the president of Caribaid, was thrilled when they received their first donations in March 2018. Travelers who Packed for a Purpose with The Moorings delivered a huge amount of 75 kilos of needed supplies for the children.

“In order to meet our mission and provide service to our communities, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses like you for support. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we wouldn’t be able to serve those in the communities in the months and years ahead,” Earl wrote in a thank you letter to Pack for a Purpose.
